In 2021 the GCC launched our 15-point Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Action-Plan, and we are now pleased to share our annual report into our progress against the action plan.
The report highlights the progress we have made against seven of the action points within the plan, including:
This project sought to identify key concerns regarding EDI from GCC registrants and to develop an understanding of external stakeholders’ opinions of the relevance of EDI within chiropractic. We had an excellent response rate to both surveys (562 registrants and 510 patients) and are finalising the analysis for sharing more widely in 2024.
The EDI working group, with assistance from the Royal College of Chiropractors, has helped develop the reflective questions for the 2023-2024 CPD year. In order to help registrants prepare and consider their approach to EDI within their clinics, a series of EDI scenarios have been shared through the monthly newsletter.
As well as delivering towards the EDI Action plan, the GCC has also worked with education providers to identify how best to support them to integrate the expectations for EDI within the new Education Standards into their programmes.
We have also reviewed our applicant information to ensure the application process to work for the GCC is accessible.
