Nick Jones, Chief Executive and Registrar at the General Chiropractic Council, said in response to the launch of Mental Health Awareness Week:
“Issues surrounding mental health, either as a short- or long-term condition, continue to be shrouded in shame and prejudice. As we have learnt from the Covid-19 pandemic, good mental health is just as important as a person’s physical wellbeing.
“If you’re in good mental health, you can make the most of your potential, cope with life and play a full part in your family, workplace, community and among friends.
“We need to move past the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage people to speak openly and honestly about their condition without fear of judgement or discrimination. We can then all gain a better understanding, helping us become a more understanding and productive society.”
