The GCC has just published three operational annual reports, highlighting the operational activity of the GCC in 2022:
The three reports published are:

  1. Registration report - newly redesigned for 2022, the registration report includes statistics and insight about all the individuals on the registrant report.
  2. Test of Competence Report - also redesigned for 2022, the ToC report discusses the number of chiropractors who have qualified abroad and are have passed an expert panel to practice in the UK.
  3. The Fitness to Practise report - highlights the investigation and enforcement actions taken by the GCC in 2022.

Just for fun, in conjunction with publishing the reports, we are asking you to test your skill and judgement on this GCC operational annual report quick quiz:

Question 1:

In 2022, 47 individuals that qualified abroad took the “Test of Competence” to prove to an expert panel that they were safe and competent to practice as a chiropractor in the UK.
How many of them passed and have now joined the register?

a) 25 b) 38 c) 47

38 applicants have passed the test of competence. At the time of writing we  are still awaiting further evidence from two other applicants.

Question 2

In 2022 there were more than 50 practising registrants over 70 years of age. Is that:

a) True b) False

True - there are over 50 people registered as practising with the General Chiropractic Council who are aged 70 or over.

Question 3

In 2022, 10 cases were determined by the Professional Conduct Committee. How many chiropractors were found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct as a result?

a) 3 b) 4 c) 5

In 2022 five chiropractors were found guity of unacceptable professional conduct by the Professional Conduct Committee. Of those, one chiropractor was removed from the register (and is no longer allowed to call themselves a chiropractor). Three were given an admonishment, and one chiropractor was suspended. Further details are set out in the 2022 Fitness to Practise report.

In the other five cases considered, the chiropractor was found not guilty of unacceptable professional conduct.
