Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is an essential part of a chiropractor’s professional life as it helps to maintain and enhance their professionalism by continually reviewing and updating their skills and knowledge. This, in turn, enables chiropractors to deliver high-quality care to patients and practise safely and effectively.

Key to this process is the concept of reflective practice - reflecting on one’s actions in order to engage in a process of continuous learning. It can be thought of as ‘learning through reflection on doing’, and includes reflecting on what you have done (Reflection-on-Action), what you are currently doing (Reflection-in-Action) and what you plan to do (Reflection-for-Action) in the course of your professional development and clinical practice. The benefit is that you will maximise the learning value of your experiences.

Rob Finch, from the Royal College of Chiropractors, has written our latest toolkit on reflective practice, including practical approaches to getting the most from learning, and tips on recording reflections.

The deadline for completing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the 2023 session is August 31st, with an extra month to complete the learning log within the chiropractor portal.
