Are you promoting your GCC registration?

It is clear from the findings that patients understand the important message conveyed by the mark that their chosen chiropractor is qualified, professional and will deliver high quality care.

Specifically, the research found that:

  • Personal recommendations are important to patients when choosing a chiropractor, relying on information from trusted sources such as family and friends.
  • Patients are reassured by the ‘I’m Registered’ mark and expect to find it on a registered chiropractor’s website.
  • In addition to the ‘I’m Registered’ mark, patients are reassured by other elements on a chiropractor’s website including details of qualifications, length of time in practice, FAQs, transparent fees and an online booking system.
  • Patients lose confidence in a chiropractic practice if its website lacks professionalism. For example, the use of poor quality and ambiguous imagery and the use of jargon that is not sufficiently explained.

According to one member of the GCC Patient Community,

“Registration and displaying your registration details shows that you are a properly vetted practice and are serious about giving good treatment to the highest standards…It shows that you are properly qualified and registered to give chiropractic treatment. It legitimises your business, in line with other care professions and governing bodies. It is what patients expect.”

The patient panel also contributed to the development of additional new materials that have been developed to help promote your GCC registration. These include a poster and a digital presentation to display in patient waiting areas. The poster includes a QR code so patients can check their chiropractor has a valid registration.

Patients and members of the public recognise that regulation and professional standards have a positive impact on care. Promoting your GCC registration is a great way to show your patients that you are part of a regulated profession and that you provide a high standard of care and professionalism.

The ‘I’m Registered’ mark, available in different formats, alongside the new materials is easy to download from the I’m Registered Tab in the registrant portal.
